"Paint Pony"

"Paint Pony", oil on linen on panel, 6x6 inches

I have always loved paintings where the subject is backlit but have seldom painted one myself.

In this painting, "Paint Pony", I focused on 'simplicity' ... simple shapes being the main thought.

In November I'm doing a demo and teaching a portrait workshop  titled, "Simple Ideas: Powerful Paintings".  I thought it might be wise to take some of my own advice ... and had lots of fun painting this one.

This painting is available at Rustica Gallery.

I've joined DAILY PAINTWORKS! ...

"Turquoise and Rose", 8x6 inches (appx), oil on linen on panel

SOLD

I'm happy to announce that I've joined the daily painting artist group, "Daily Paintworks"!

Recently, this group opened their doors to new membership and I thought it provided a wonderful opportunity to once again offer my little miniatures for auction.   "Turquoise and Rose" is my first offering.

This is an art dedicated website, full of wonderful art with possibilities for every art collector. The best part is that it allows the first time collector an opportunity to buy one of my original pieces at a starting bid of $100.  I will also post a number of my paintings which are available through galleries representing my work.  As with most endeavors in an artist's life, it will be a work-in-progress.

Whether you are just starting out on this exciting road to building your own collection ... or expanding on an existing one, I hope that you enjoy looking!

Purchases are made through the secure PayPal website.  The "Click Here To Bid" link will be provided under each auction painting on this blog for you to make your winning bid or you can go directly to the Daily Paintworks website to do so.

If you would like to receive each painting posted to my auction , please fill in your email information at the top of my blog.

Feel free to email me if you have any questions ...  Good Luck!

Note:  Please note updated workshop info at right ... will post more about it soon.

Very important portrait in a very tiny format!   Lots of fun painting this alla prima portrait of Angela...  A great way to work out a larger painting.

Workshop Announcement - Fall, 2009

Bobbi's Studio

Several years ago, my studio was not only my own workspace, but a thriving environment for my students, as well. With weekly classes and frequent weekend workshops in both oil and watercolour, it was a hustling, bustling space filled with creative energy and a place where many lasting friendships were formed. Five years ago, I set the teaching aside to concentrate more fully on my own work, but I did promise that one day I would come back to teaching, something I have enjoyed immensely.

Well, I'm very happy to report that I will be resuming my oil painting workshop schedule beginning again this fall, 2009. I have many exciting ideas in mind to share - from painting the landscape en plein air to painting the figure -and I'm looking forward to welcoming back many of my former students and to meeting new ones.

In my oil painting workshops you will be painting from life from live models and still lifes, all set up under the beautiful north lit windows of my spacious studio.

Coming up: September or October, 2009
Painting the Still Life, from life
